Blue Ribbon Futurity Rules

 

I.    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Only the get from the nominated Gold Seal Stallions owned or leased by members of the Mid-East Coast Arabian Breeders, Inc. are eligible if all requirements are met.

 

II.   STALLION REQUIREMENTS

 A. The owner or lessee of the nominated stallion must be a paid member of MECAB in good standing

 

 B. Stallion owners must nominate their stallions annually on an official signed form.

 

 C. Stallions must be nominated before mares that are bred to them can be nominated.  A live foal guarantee applies to all Blue Ribbon Futurity breeding.

 

  D. If a nominated stallion should be physically unable to breed in the following  season, another stallion may be substituted in his place providing the member is in good standing.

 

III.   MARE REQUIREMENTS

  A. All mares bred to MECAB nominated Gold Seal Stallions are eligible to be nominated for the Blue Ribbon Futurity.  The mare nomination form must be entirely filled in, signed, and include the nomination fee before the mare will be accepted. 

 

B. The mare nomination fee of $55.00 must be paid by January 15 following the year in which the mare was bred.  There will be no backing in of Blue Ribbon foals and late nominations will not be accepted with a penalty.                                                                                        

 

C. The resulting foal remains nominated and eligible to be shown as a weanling and a yearling regardless of sale or transfer of ownership.

 

 D. The $55.00 nomination fee includes a $5.00 fee for a MECAB Futurity Certificate.

 

IV.   FUTURITY SHOW

  A. Futurity Show information and entry forms will be sent by the US Postal Service. Deadline dates for the Futurity Show entries will be posted. The date will be determined annually by the Board of Directors.  MECAB is not  responsible for misdirected mail and certified mail is recommended.

 

  B.  Mare owners must be paid members of MECAB.

 

  C.  No fees will be refunded.

V.  JUDGING AND SHOWING OF WEANLINGS AND YEARLINGS

 A. The resulting foals, both Purebred Arabian and Half-Arabian, will be eligible for weanling and yearling futurities at the MECAB Fall Event each year.

 

 B. All nominated MECAB futurity horses must be shown by amateur handlers as defined by the MECAB Amateur Handler Rule.

 

 C. Weanling and Yearling divisions, colts and fillies, Purebred Arabian and Half-Arabian, will be divided into four separate groups providing

      there are sufficient numbers. Geldings will be shown with colts.

                       

 D.  Each horse shown must have a stall.

 

 E.  Yearlings must be registered with AHA.        

 

VI.   PRIZE MONIES AND RIBBONS

 A. Prize money will be comprised of 100% of all mare nomination fees. The mare nomination fees will be allocated to either Purebred               Arabians or Half-Arabians depending on resulting foal status.

 

 B. The prize money will be divided forty percent to the weanling futurity and sixty percent to the yearling futurity.  Monies in each class will be divided equally between colts and fillies and awarded to a minimum of the top five in each class.

 

 C. There will be a “Supreme Halter Class” for weanlings and yearlings in the Gold Seal and Blue Ribbon classes and a “Supreme Halter Class” for extended horses.  Separate classes will be for Purebred Arabian and Half- Arabian horses. Neck sashes will be awarded to the Champion and Reserve horses.  Horses in the Open   classes sired by Non-Gold Seal Stallions will not be eligible for the “Supreme Halter Classes.”

 

 D. Get of Sire and Produce of Dam classes are for the get of Gold Seal Stallions. A neck sash will be awarded to the winner of each class.
