Gold Seal Auction Futurity Rules

 

       I.   THE AUCTION

      A. Stallion services will be donated for the Gold Seal Auction by currently paid members of the Mid-East Coast Arabian Breeders Association, Inc.  These stallion’s

            services are for stallions owned or leased by Mid-East Coast members.

       B. A limit of two stallion’s services per MECAB stallion membership will be allowed to be auctioned each year.

       C. The Gold Seal Stallion Silent Service Auction with mail-in bids will be held AS an annual MECAB Event.  The minimum bid will be whichever is

            greater. Purebred Arabians:  $500 or half of the advertised service fee Half-Arabians:  $300 or half of the advertised service

            fee. Any stallion’s service not purchased at the auction time will be held open at minimum bid through that year’s breeding

            season.                                                                                                                                                                 

       D. Twenty-five percent of the stallion service payment is due at the time of the auction purchase or subsequent sale of service. If 25% is not collected, service will

            go to the next highest bidder. The balance of the stallion’s service fee is to be paid to the MECAB treasurer on or before April 3.

       E. Contracts marked “paid” along with MECAB By-Laws and Futurity Rules will be mailed to the winning bidders by the club treasurer.  Stallion owners will also

            be notified by the club treasurer that payment has been paid in full.

       F. A percentage (to be determined annually by the Board of Directors) of the proceeds of the stallion service auction will be donated to a charity. A minimum of

           50% of the remaining auction proceeds will be set aside in a Gold Seal Auction Futurity Fund to be divided 40% for the weanlings (50-50 colts and fillies) and

           60% for the yearlings (50-50 colts and fillies). The balance of the auction proceeds shall be used to finance the working expenses for the Mid-East Coast Arabian

           Breeders, Inc. 

      II. THE BREEDING

      A. The breeding must take place for (example: mares must be bred in 2008 to 2007 Gold Seal Stallions)

      B.  If a stallion is incapable of servicing the mare, any payment toward the fee shall be refunded. The purchaser of the stallion service will be given a live foal

          guarantee but NO transfers or refunds will be issued regarding an aborted, deceased, etc. foal, in regard to substitutions in subsequent year’s futurity classes.

          Please note: if service purchaser’s first choice mare fails to conceive, a substitute mare is recommended since the Gold Seal Futurity requires that the breeding

           must take place the following year  If a mare owner wishes to exercise a live foal guarantee during the next breeding season, the resulting foal will no longer be

           eligible for Gold Seal Futurity classes.  The foal will be eligible for the Blue Ribbon Futurity classes only, if nominated.

III.      MARE REQUIREMENTS

  A.  A person purchasing a breeding to a stallion that has been donated to the Gold Seal Auction Futurity must nominate that mare on the official nomination

 form and at no charge.  The mare may also be nominated to the Blue Ribbon Futurity with a $55.00 fee.

 B. Gold Seal Stallion owners also be allowed to nominate at no charge a mare for the Gold Seal Futurity providing their stallion's breeding sells at auction, And

 that they nominate the same mare for the Blue Ribbon Futurity with the $55.00 fee.  Gold Seal foals entered by the stallion owners must be in the Stallion

 Owner’s name or listed as the breeder on the registration papers.                                                                                                           

 C.  These Gold Seal nominations will be for both the Purebred and Half-Arabian classes.

 D.  There will be no “backing in” of Gold Seal foals and late nominations will not be accepted.

 E.   No nomination fees will be refunded.

 

            IV.       FUTURITY SHOW

 A. Futurity Show information and entry forms will be sent by the US Postal Service.  Futurity Show deadline dates will be posted and entries with appropriate fee

 must be postmarked by a date to be determined annually by the Board of Directors.  There will be a $25.00 returned check fee and MECAB does not allow

 postdated and hold checks. MECAB is not responsible for misdirected mail and certified mail is recommended.

 B.  Mare owners must be paid members of MECAB.

 C.  No fees will be refunded.

 

            V. JUDGING AND SHOWING OF WEANLINGS AND YEARLINGS

A.  The resulting foals of the Gold Seal Auction will be shown at the MECAB Fall Event in the Gold Seal Futurity of their weanling and yearling years. 

            B.  Weanling and Yearling divisions, colts and fillies, Purebred Arabian and Half-Arabian, will be divided into four separate groups providing there are sufficient

                   numbers. Geldings will be shown with colts.

            C.  Yearlings must be registered with AHA.

D.  Prize money will be paid back to a minimum of 5 places in each class, providing there are sufficient numbers. 

E.   All nominated MECAB futurity horses must be shown by amateur handlers as defined by the MECAB Amateur Handler Rule.

F.   Each horse must have a stall.

G.   There will be a “Supreme Halter Class” for weanlings and yearlings in the Gold Seal and Blue Ribbon classes and a “Supreme Halter Class” for extended

 horses.  Separate classes will be for Purebred Arabian and Half-Arabian horses. Neck sashes will be awarded to the Champion and Reserve horses.  Horses in

 the Open classes sired by Non-Gold Seal Stallions will not be eligible for the “Supreme Halter Classes.”

            H. Get of Sire and Produce of Dam classes are for the get of Gold Seal Stallions. Neck Sashes will be awarded.
