Introduction
Mid
East Coast Arabian Breeders, Inc. (MECAB) is an AHA affiliated club.
The purpose of MECAB is to form an organization of horse enthusiasts who
are interested in promoting the Arabian and Half-Arabian breeds.
MECAB is open to stallion owners, mare and offspring owners, youth and
other interested parties. We are
united in that we promote amateur handling as well as breeding exceptional
Arabians.
Our purpose is not to
eliminate professional handlers, but rather to encourage owners and amateurs to
become involved and show their horses at a show where they do not compete
against the professionals. We feel
that not only will this bring owners closer to their horses, but will also bring
new and interested people to the Arabian breed.
We are an action club, which
each year holds a futurity show, a stallion service auction, an educational
clinic, and an open show. All of
these events are open to the public as well as to our members. The club also
makes a yearly donation to a non-profit organization. We take much pride in the
fact that we have been described as a very friendly group.
Our futurity has consistently
been the best in North Carolina. In
2002 our futurity paid out $17,659.00
to the offspring of MECAB Gold Seal Stallions.
Our prize money is given out with the ribbons as horses came out of the
ring. This is a unique feature of
the way our futurity operates.
MECAB has four business
meetings each year. Financial
reports and minutes are given at each meeting.
Each member is given a membership notebook that can be updated from time
to time.
The Gold Seal
Stallion service auction is an excellent opportunity to purchase a breeding to
one of our stallions for a reduction in breeding price. Many times the payouts
in the Futurity Classes are greater than the purchase price of a breeding sold
at auction.
We invite you to become a
member of our organization. Please
call or write if you are interested in being a part of our program. Let us unite in improving our breed image and carry the theme
“You Can Do Anything on an Arabian.”
